It is easy to get distracted by the sheer volume of things going wrong. Our culture is a mess with fundamental building blocks of society being undermined and purposefully destroyed with gender, marriage, and ultimately civility being unable to sustain. Of course, such fundamental destruction can not last long. Were it to become pervasive, the very fabric of society would become unable to maintain a population. We are headed in that direction but ultimately that will not be what leads to a collapse. Rather it is economics.

In any number of studies on why civilizations collapse there are a number of common themes. I won't bore you with all of them, (read the book "Collapse: Why Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed"by Jared Diamond) but one of the more interesting observations was how societies choose to misallocate resources and then create a collapse. For instance, wars we cannot afford, or affectations that take significant resources but do not actually benefit the society in proportion to the amount of work and investment that we put into it. The collapse of the Easter Island society having become obsessed with building statues and using the limited resources available on the island to not only build them but then knock other tribes' down. I do not think people realize the level of insanity that we are approaching in this and why the world is setting up for WW3. Having misallocated our resources to participate in constant war we have destroyed the financial system. It is not redeemable and will implode upon itself. War will allow the world to reset and start over. Those in power hope to "win" so that they can once again establish the financial rules or rig the game so that they remain in power. But with all things of war, they are unpredictable and messy affairs where bad decisions or new technologies can suddenly change the entire game.

The Hill has an article (https://thehill.com/blogs/congress-blog/3501223-interest-on-the-debt-is-a-huge-threat/) out today about interest rates and the national debt. This cannot work, it cannot continue.

from the article:

Over the past two years, $4.6 trillion has been provided by Congress in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact on inflation, particularly the timing of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act in March 2021, is subject to some debate, but what cannot be denied is the impact this spending has had on the interest paid on the national debt. Between 2011-2018, interest on debt held by the public averaged $272 billion annually. Between 2019-2021, annual interest on the debt averaged $389 billion, an increase of $117 billion, or 43 percent. The president’s fiscal year 2022 budget, which is the first to project deficits of more than $1 trillion for 10 consecutive years, estimates that FY 2022 interest on debt of $26.3 trillion will be $305 billion and reach $941 billion in FY 2031, or more than triple the amount for the current fiscal year. By that time, interest payments will account for 59 percent of the projected $1.6 trillion deficit.

The projected interest payments in the budget were made with the assumption that 10-year Treasury interest rates would be 1.4 percent in FY 2022, then average 2.2 percent for the next four years and average 2.8 percent for the following five years. But the 10-year Treasury interest rate is already 2.8 percent and likely to go higher given the Federal Reserve Bank’s plan to continue raising interest rates.

An increase in interest rates of one percentage point above projected rates, according to Brian Reidl of the Manhattan Institute, would raise interest payments by $30 trillion through 2051, and at that time the payments would be equal to 70 percent of all tax revenue. An increase of two percentage points would mean that interest payments would equal 100 percent of all tax revenue in 2051.

Obviously this cannot happen so it won't. What is the escape? Couple that with the rising demographic problem, diminishing returns on energy invested in order to keep our energy economy going, and you see what what the "powers that be" see. This system as it currently exists cannot be sustained and will stop. Therefore, they must take this opportunity, this one time chance to change the game. There are two powers that see this is coming and both want to be in control when the fallout settles. One is an Eastern alliance of China with friends, the other is the United States and friends.

Ukraine is merely the first shots in the global war that MUST happen in order to reset the playing field. They cannot win if it just stops. Rich people stop being rich so that does not work. Rather they are going to blow things up and then when one side emerges victorious they will dictate the new financial system from the ruins of the old. Debt will be repudiated and there will be a grand reset. It is a 4th Turning and the world will not escape.

This is not doom porn, it is what is happening. Will humanity end? No, but our world is going to get smaller again really quickly. Invest in local food, skills, and infrastructure and hope your community will be one that can self sustain and possibly weather the storm. With war who knows, but one must make the attempt. Articles like this should be wake up calls but they will be ignored by most and water will continue to swirl around the bowl.

May your garden grow well and your trees produce a good harvest this year. Ours are off to a slow start due to weather.

Do you think a gold/silver monetary standard would be a step in the right direction ?

Before or after the confiscate the gold? lol

While sound money is the right direction is it s not the direction they are headed. It will all be digital. Resets are not so hard when it is all digital. It is also easier to punish countries and individuals. You can make all their stuff go away with the click of a button. Just ask Russian oligarchs. Look at what they did to truckers in Canada and the donations that were trying to get there. No it will go in the direction that gives them more control not less.

Can someone tell us the benefit of being a servant who's well being is dependent upon what the dear leader wants.
