Took the ole flu shot for the first time in my adult life due to a family member demanding it. Tried to be nice, I took one some 20 yrs ago to the same effect.
Anyway. I’ve done the fever, coughs (razors in lungs), joint aches, missed thanksgiving dinner, in short, been tuff. Can deal with most of it and function but got a sore throat that has just about halted all progress.

I need a day or two remedy for it. Any old remedies? I need some relief! Going to doc as soon as I can just can’t at the moment and am looking to try anything right now that may sooth and ease some pain.

What y’all got. I know there some tuff guys who will say they chew on posion ivy for relief and go on. I ain’t quite there yet.

Some people do honey to sooth a sore throat.

Are you saying you got the flu from the flu shot?

Different folks swear by different cough drops for throat soothing. Cepacol, Fisherman's Friend (nasty taste so I hear), Luden's.

Fad/mob flu treatments come and go. The latest seems to be elderberry or Oscillococcinum. I've heard varying reports with both.

Best sore throat treatment I've known of was the old formulation of chloraseptic spray with about half the bottle poured out into another bottle and fill the half back up with viscous lidocaine. The lidocaine requires an rx. New chloraseptic (or other brand) will work but the older was better.

Oh, and if you think the flu shot gave you the flu you're mistaken.

Spent most of November sick- only cure was the arrival of duck season! Oh yeah, the flask of aqua vitae worked a miracle too!

I wasn’t even gonna stray down that path. Fireball makes you feel better always, though.

I'll see your Fireball and raise you a Jagermeister.

For the sore throat, gargle with warm salt water. I used to try to convince my wife that application of a bulbous-headed throat splint would help, but she never fell for it.

Na. I hate black licorice, and that’s what that tastes like to me. Same effect though, I guess.
