THIS IS NOT LOAD TESTED
I found this to fit well
3inch cheddite
28gr LS
Bpgs seal
Clbc wad
274 tss #8.5 / 274 steel #3
No filler no OSC
What was the speed on that load?

Can’t get pellet count I want in a 2-3/4 hull unless you increase the tss and I really don’t want to have to do that. It was tested at 33 gn steel. Gonna explore the longshot route for now, I’m expecting it will leave me somewhere in the 1300’s at SAAMI max but it’s worth exploring. Also going to see what the max amount of steel powder is that I can fit
You can get 1 1/4oz of 50/50 steel tss to fit in a 2 3/4 hull using steel powder.
I'm anxious to see how your longshot load turns out. Thanks for sharing!

No word from precision yet, I'm not sure what they are waiting on

Yep you sure can but pressure will be lower in the 3 inch hull. How much steel you using in that 2-3/4 load??

I loaded it at 32 and run it over my chrony and got 1330-1350. I was hoping for more speed than that and felt like I was pushing pressure and didn't pursue it. After seeing how much spacers and a short shot colum reduces pressure I may load some and test it and see where it's at.

You’re fine wrt pressure at 32 gns. If you want more speed, say 1450 try 34-35 in a 3 inch hull, and try a smaller wad like a TPS 35. May need a gas seal. I’d think that’s going to be close to max pressure.

Verdict is in.

At 36 grains of STEEL the load is basically right at max SAAMI pressure. 1488 FPS, 11532 PSI. Hit the nail on the head with that one

The load with 28 grains of longshot won't work. It is 1407 FPS, 15290 PSI. I don't want to be less than 1400 FPS so I am abandoning this load with longshot

So at 35.5 grains of steel I am expecting to be around 1465 FPS and 10,955 PSI. What I might explore now is going to a shorter wad with a gas seal to make it load/crimp easier. 35.5 grains will fit but it sure does crimp tight. I will load a couple to pattern soon!

I know I have commented on this a couple of times. Can you remind us what the load exactly was?
