3” cheddite hull, TUPRW123 wad, 2 x 1/4” 20ga felt, 273 gn tss under 273 gn steel, 20ga OSC, fold crimp
You’re going to need to drop your charge more than that if you’re going to use a gas seal. If it fits tight it’s prob perfect height for a roll crimp which would also get your pressure under max.Verdict is in.
At 36 grains of STEEL the load is basically right at max SAAMI pressure. 1488 FPS, 11532 PSI. Hit the nail on the head with that one
The load with 28 grains of longshot won't work. It is 1407 FPS, 15290 PSI. I don't want to be less than 1400 FPS so I am abandoning this load with longshot
So at 35.5 grains of steel I am expecting to be around 1465 FPS and 10,955 PSI. What I might explore now is going to a shorter wad with a gas seal to make it load/crimp easier. 35.5 grains will fit but it sure does crimp tight. I will load a couple to pattern soon!
I like it. I'll chip in on your test if you want some help. I appreciate what you're doing and I'll put my money where my mouth is. I bet some other guys would too. PM me your PayPal infoWorking on another variation of this load that loads and crimps much easier.
Not tested yet!
3” cheddite
35 grains alliant steel
X12x gas seal
Tps 35mm
273 gn tss under 273 gn steel
Fold crimp
Fits like a glove and has no filler or overshot cards. No filler under the shot column and the addition of the gas seal may increase the pressure too much, but only one way to find out
That’s gonna work great.Working on another variation of this load that loads and crimps much easier.

I appreciate it, but no need. I enjoy developing loads and I think the price of testing is a small price to pay for having a load that I can shoot for years to come. I've probably tested over a hundred loads at this point. I probably need to look at getting my own pressure barrel lolI like it. I'll chip in on your test if you want some help.
