I spent more money this year than most. Mostly driving around looking for those nearly non existent birds.
I never had a decent duck shoot,,, or even decent decoying ducks. And two hot goose hunts, but not a single goose hunt with my wife or daughter
This year I killed fewer ducks and geese since I was 13 years old!, I covered more miles, hunted strange locations, bought a Fort Hall Tribal waterfowl Permit and made a spring snow goose hunt.
Im thinking if next year is this slow Ill head for SD for spring snow geese.
    Whats changed for you!

Slow year here for birds in hand but we went out as much as we always do. Like you, salt, we scouted more. We had only a couple of hunts approaching epic status...but not quite. Plus some slow days even though the birds had been there when we scouted ("you should'a been here yesterday!"). With increasing population, we are seeing more pressure on the more popular spots. It's a good thing we work hard to try to avoid those.

I hunted more last year than in any year since 1968, but only because I can now walk out my door and hunt. I had some good hunts early but it took me until late in the season to figure out the late-season birds. Because for me it’s always been about the hunt and not “the pile”, I just thoroughly enjoyed hunting 4-5 days a week. If it wasn’t ducks it was geese, if it wasn’t geese it was quail.

It appears I am surrounded by experts.
Looked back in my notes and noticed I hunted one day more than the previous season but shot and killed less birds. Terrible season it was.
