Yeah it sucks. Luckily I've had it so long I can't remember not having it. Shooting, sirens, saws, air compressors, loud music all contributed to it. You get used to it.
If you don't have any hearing damage yet, treat your hearing like an irreplaceable treasure
    It is.

    Same here with me Allan.
And my dad is 79yrs old and just got his first set of hearing aids he got them through Costco as well. He loves them, he didn't get the best they had he got one step down from them.
I need to make an appointment, I can't hear s*** anymore.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes please.:tu

I was a M-60 gunner in the Marines. I hear crickets all the time. If there is background noise, I have trouble understanding speech unless I am looking directly at the person talking.

Left ear, my shooters ear, rings constantly. If I wear plugs it is actually worse after I take them out. Have considerable damage to my left ears hearing, right ear is pretty decent yet. If I am in a room and multiple people are talking at the same time, I just sit there and try to read lips. Leads to some interesting moments where I laughed, and obviously shouldn't have. The good thing is most of my buddies are just as bad as I am. Makes it kind of a game guessing what people are saying to you at the bar.

Ears have rang since my late 20s. I can hum the pitch lol. Sleeping with a fan helps. But I get not break, it never stops.

I guess I have a mild version. Maybe. If I think about it I can notice a hum but it does not bother me, thankfully. I do have trouble making out what folks are saying sometimes, though I hear the noise--maybe it's selective! I have had wax problems in the past that significantly impacts my hearing and drives you crazy once they close off. When that crap is rinsed out it's like a light switch.

My dad suffers with it after decades of work noise and blasts from Vietnam. Also can't hear it thunder and hearing aids seem to only help marginally.

My son wears his muffs, period.
