In my area one could never learn to wing shoot just hunting. Way too few opportunities. I would get them to some clays or skeet. Will learn more in an hour on clays than years of hunting.
I definitely agree! I have a wheelybird. They’ve been shooting clays all summer. My gf is learning crossing shots, but I haven’t moved my 11 year old daughter up to that yet. She begged me to take her hunting today, so I had to take her. My 19 year old is an excellent wing shot.

Great job!!!:tu

A lot more challenging to get and keep the girls interested... With my own daughters, I am incentivizing them to go, as opposed to me as a kid having to earn the right to do so....

My oldest (at 12 now) had "the talk" with me last year... After me asking her to go every weekend, she explained that hunting was not her thing, and really did not want to go... I told her I appreciated her having the conversation, and knew it was tough for her to have... Also told her that all she would have to do was ask to go... Junior hunt came along, and a buddy wanted to borrow her gun for his daughter, and when I brought this up to my daughter she said "now wait a minute, I think I would like to go on the junior hunt!" She had a great experience and now goes with me every couple weeks!!!

I’ve had good luck with my girls. My issue this season has been medical. I had a procedure over the holidays and have been unable to go much. I was able to get out for a few minutes so my 12 year old and I could jump shoot some geese though.

I took my 20 year old a couple of times before the procedure, but she wasn’t able to bag a duck. She emptied the clip on a group, but only knocked some tail feathers out of one lol. She’s usually a really good shot. I noticed she was over choked (she had her goose choke in), but it was too late. We couldn’t get anymore to come in.

Good for you for taking the girls with you! Gadwall never understood why most male hunters/fishers didn't want their women with them in the field. I never hunted once before meeting Gaddy. Wasn't taught gun safety, how to shoot or anything else prior, and certainly never asked to go with the men i the family. Went from that to target shooting, dove/pheasant/duck/goose hunting, etc. Some of my most special memories are of hunting with Gadwall for 36 years. Give your women a chance to enjoy the outdoors with you. Give her the quality supplies she needs, keep her warm and dry in the field, and you will gain a partner in life and in nature. He would have been 72 here in a couple weeks. Miss him every day.....

A nice story. Was I the only one that felt a sense of relief finding out that "girlfriend and sister" meant two people?
