Well even though I'm fighting a sinus infection, I managed to get a 25 round box of 1 once number 4 sized tss buckshot loaded up for testing.

Same load and components used in my 1 once duck/goose load just changed out the shot size to number 4 tss buckshot.

Also going to be loading a 25 round box 1 1/4 once load of number 4 tss buckshot to test as well.

Louisiana says it has to be buckshot, so number 4 tss buckshot is the smallest I could legally go with.

1 once has 13 pellets and 1 1/4 has 16 pellets.
Sorry I don’t get it. This defeats the purpose of using buckshot from a safety perspective. Can you use HTL in that size legally? You should prob use a heavy mylar wrap regardless unless Hal tested buckshot size TSS. The same pellets I agree do not need one in a quality wad.

It's a high quality wad.

derbyacresbob how many deer will it take to stop number 4 tss lol.
What KPY Shotshell Ballistics shows for 1250 fps TSS Number 4 Buck is pretty impressive. I use 3.70" of penetration in 20% ballistic gel for what I want for hunting coyotes.

1250 fps TSS Number 4 buck gets 10.54 " of gel penetration at 50.9 yards.

TSS buckshot was ballistically tested for US military and law enforcement a while back. 10-15 years ago I believe. It was determined that there was too much collateral damage with the loads they were testing. The only reason I know this is because there was someone interested in commercial production and selling it to military and law enforcement.

That's perrty cool. Might have to find that data and check it out.

My do some 1 once number 4 tss buckshot testing in my new 1301 tac shotgun and see if it will fit my home/self defense needs as well.

Either way LDWF says it has to be buckshot, so the number 4's is as small as go in tss and still be legal on public lands for deer/hog.
