There have been a few stray buckshot hunting accidents/incidents in Va. Don’t think I want any part of that.We do a lot of man drives for deer (with buckshot). I considered tss, but ultimately decided it could potentially be dangerous, as opposed to the lead buckshot everyone is familiar with. The lack of deformation and increased risk of ricochet gave me pause. Taking a safe shot is always priority number one, but I suspect tss would behave much differently than lead.
That's how it is here in Virginia with dogs, and even man driving to an extent, and thus my reluctancy to shoot TSS, and hopefully no one else will either. Exponentially extending the lethality of buckshot in these situations is asking for trouble. Some folks would blanch at how some dog deer hunts are run here in the south. IF everyone is where they’re supposed to be, it’s not an issue. It’s when you get the young yahoos that want to walk on line with the dogs, that somebody runs a risk.
Adding buffer? The dog hunters and man drives aside.
I have concluded my testing for a bit. Shot some of the 1 1/4 loads today through all the chokes I listed before and it just doesnt pattern to my liking.
Now the 1 once load with the carlsons LR(IM) cremator choke consistently printed 100% pattern density (13 pellets) inside a 10 inch circle at 45 yards. With a few shots coming in just under 8 inch groups.
Going to sit down and re test them down the road and take good pics when I do but for now I'm done. Dont feel like fighting the high winds in the evening anymore.
