Unit 36 Elk Tag

i drew a unit 36, Ruidoso Elk tag for October. Can anyone give any idea of some areas to check out. We will be out there 3 days early to scout. Any info on the general habits. Where are they in the morning afternoon and evening. I know in Colorado you had to intercept them early in the morning at the timberline and again in the evening. Any help would be appreciated.

That is a unit with lots of elk. I would suggest calling the area wildlife officer and see if they could provide you with any info. I would suggest getting far away from any roads too.
