Thanks for posting a professional reply concerning the Whitehurst impoundments. It sure beats the complaining and conspiracy theories that get floated around here. Keep up the good work.

I gave up the quota hunt system many years ago and the only thing I miss is the chance at getting a Swan Permit . I will agree with Kahunna , Thank You KayakEvan for posting as a DGIF employee with the INFO .
I do have a question , after waterfowl season is over will the marshes of Back Bay be burned ? Snow goose hunting down there is something I like doing ?

    :clap LD :yes

Burning the Pocahontas marsh is one of those “if we can get the right weather and time to do it”. We burned it 2 years ago. Last year part of it was burned as part of the Mackay island burn. I can’t give a definitive answer because I just don’t know.

Yep, that's not something you can exactly schedule.

The wellness to do if the stars line up was all I wanted to read .
I wish that the department would encourage all marsh land owners to do prescribed burnings if the conditions are right . With a tax break from the state so the owners could afford to have it done . I guess that is the making of another thread .

It makes ducks stupid and hunters outlaws where what Dgif is trying is to keep Duck on the X for the gamblers that won a hunt .

Thanks for the info. Im glad its coming back around bc for years it was very poorly managed. I have heard good things about Evan and that he is getting it back where it should be.
Evan - Why do you think the corn is good for inverts?? Everything I have seen personally and heard/read is corn results in lower amount of inverts vs moist soil or millets or other crops that leave behind alot more detritis
