Anyone have a Veterans hunt open tomorrow? Some may remember, I've hosted a 92, 93 and tomorrow will be a 94 year old last 3 years. Lew is his name. I have one other Vet as well. So 3 of us.
I plan on taking many pictures to share.
Plan is to duck hunt til 0930, then move to the goose field(250 yards away by boat).
My favorite hunt of the year. Here's a pic of Lew after last years hunt.

my plan is to video the first couple hours. I truly wish I knew how to post videos. He is a good shot, but I need to get better on when telling him to stand up.
Tomorrow has me grinning ear to ear. Can't wait! Found an epic hunt. The birds are stacked like cordwood last 3 days.

Have fun.
Good on you for doing this, you have my upmost respect !!!
Ain't gonna lie. We had our first Vets hunt in this state 3 years ago. A great buddy(non Vet) asked if I'd take a 92 year old with me. I was skeptical. Can he walk? Can he shoot? Can I carry him? Etc etc.
Guess I was kinda selfish. I can admit.

He is somewhat mobile. If I can get a boat 50yds from hunt spot, he's golden. Hearing is awful, so I tug at his arm to stand up. He absolutely loves my dog. Picked up a new puppy 6 months ago cause he loved my dog so much!!!
Here's a story I posted about new dog. Made the main paper. I'm the buddy who gets dog if it don't work out.

That's incredible. I'd definitely make the drive up for that.

Ours Is next weekend and we're not allowed geese.

Veterans hunt is the next two Sundays. Youth is each Saturday prior. In one year we went from five members with kids aged right for the youth hunt to one. The vet in our group normally has Sunday dibs, but sounded last night like he may be out this year.

It's 0447 here. My alarm was set for 0530. So jazzed woke up early.
Balmy 51 degrees and SE wind gusting to 20.
I like our chances.
