I'm thinking about applying for a job in Watertown NY, and I'm wondering about the waterfowling oppurtunities in that part of the state? I'm especially interested in goose hunting.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Daniel

He says lots of good goose hunting around. Mostly need to get access to ag fields. Some goose hunting on the water with a boat too. It's not far from the St Lawrence, Henderson harbor, etc.

If I'm not mistaken the regular goose season up there has a 1 bird limit and is 30 days this year.

I just saw your post on ND forum, those guys are such Debbie downers. Always trying to chase away the Non-res. i have been going there for 5 years now. Love the place, everyone should do it once or twice in their life.

Lot of marshes around Watertown, go north to the river or west to Ontario lotsa ducks, very different from ND. You might have to reduce yourself to shooting divers. but they are fun and you can marinate anything and make it taste good. If your going to hunt the lake or river you will need a sturdy boat.

yeah, there's a lot out here that don't care for out of staters, and not just for hunting. Lot of backwards thinking.

I'm not a mallard purist by any means. I have no problem dropping a hammer on the bluebill or redhead. I've heard are some pretty good hunting in northern New York, but I wasn't sure how easy it was to come by. Do you do most of your diver gunning in boat blinds?

Thanks for your reply

Some from the boat, often its just a matter of finding a good point and setting up a quick stick blind, there not the wariest birds.
we'll be in ND in October, how do the conditions look? I'm sure water levels are low, but I would think that would just concentrate the birds.
