What are they going to do here?? We already have no water and lows in the teens starting this week. Highs right at freezing fri on out. They’ll middle finger this state and not look down once. It’s going to be a wrap. We went from stale birds, to no birds, to fly over, a great seasonJust talked to my uncle in south central nodak,8-12" snow, and single digit lows,it will be over by Friday, even the big 12 lb. honkers will be packing up,and heading to sodak!!
Like you stated the bigger problem is after the snow the lows are going to be below 10 degrees for at least a week straight and highs will barely hit 20. It will all be over by this Saturday most likely unless a guy wants to try and hunt Devils Lake or the river when the temp is like 18 out. Supposed to start raining on Wednesday and by Thursday it will all be snow so I guess the time is now the next few days. What are they going to do here?? I was thinking of going to the same general area as well for the hunt Friday. I think Thursday night it will stay open with a low of 21 and big winds but Friday night we are looking at a low of 8 degrees in western mn. Even with the wind when it gets to 8 I have seen sloughs literally frozen in wave formation the next day. Suppose to snow also so I may head south instead to avoid all of that .I’m thinking of heading to western mn Thursday night with my 10 year old daughter on our large private slough we go to but I’m hesitating to go. She of course wants to but has no idea what the wind chill will be. I know it will stay open till Saturday night bc of the winds but dang it’s going to be cold and windy and we sleep in the back of the truck with a heater and generator tucked behind an old barn.
Isn't that the truth they will likely be ice fishing a week from today for early perch and walleyes on the smaller lakes and sloughs.Understand that for every ND waterfowler saddened by the freeze ... there are probably a half dozen or more excited about ice fishing.
