Recker we all know you are pretty doom and gloom on ND freezes and usually get active on this ND forum at this time of year.

Most years a span of 3-5 days of really cold temps is not a factor (unless you hunt water) since many ND ponds are now actually lakes and pretty deep. I have successfully hunted ND after these cold waves quite a few times ...

but I think you just could be right this time around.

The snow, the temperatures (daily highs and lows), and the low-temperature duration (week+) are about as extreme as I have seen in the past 10 years or so ... maybe longer!

I have friends who are hunting everyday this week and will next week as well if they can. The lake they are near is huge so it will be interesting to see how long it stays open. Some years into december. I will be out friday but that may be it for me. We shall see i dont hunt near really big water.

Often 'the big freeze' gets overstated, but based on the forecast I don't think this one is. 8+ inches of snow coupled with 50-60 mph winds, followed by below zero lows for a few days. DL region looks like it might get spared a bit on the snow so I suppose there'll be some field hunting opportunities around there for a week or so.

No worries feathers will still shoot limits for another three weeks anywhere in ND. The dude could shoot a limit in -25 degrees in a twelve foot high drift. He knows where all the mallards are when it is -8 out at night and they are 12 inches of snow on the ground. The dude is an absolute machine and I am stunned he does not have his own hunting show he is so good. I look forward to hearing his tales next week of all these limits of mallards he is shooting. I fully expect daily limits of green from him for another two weeks at least. Despite what the vaunted feathers thinks not everyone hunts fields. I know some actually hunt water for divers and grey ducks, etc. So I guess a chainsaw is need for them cause the vaunted feathers said they will still be able to get them from the roost.

Anyone looking for limits call up Feathers the guide he will have you limited in 30 minutes and uploaded to his you tube channel with the rest of his kills. He probably uses terms like " put the hurt on them" or "bloodbath". He is the guy in bar who brags about shooting 137 limits per year you know cause he helps shoot the others limits. Feathers the guide I am surprised had not started a guiding service in Canada he could be the next Ongaro's Outdoors with sponsors and his own show.

Haven’t we been through this before recker. Same meltdown that you had last year.

Temps warmed a bit today at the border, snow melted but all froze. Geese flew steady high this morning from north.
