What’s the deal with black ducks?

    We get them here. Pretty thick if PA and OH will freeze up. Give them a few days and they'll get in the gravely creeks and drag the mallards with them.

    Frustrating when they are thick but the limit is only one.

    Always have considered them the king of puddlers. To say they are not one of the most handsome ducks is foolish in my opinion. When I look up and see that dark dark body contrasted against the white underwings, something primal happens to me

    Precious few black ducks make it this far down, and those that do are lost and generally gullible souls. But the quite similar in behavior and coloration mottled duck is native here, and when his hunters are urging the buddy who manages the camp neighboring our marsh to call them, he claims to reply, "See that white under their wings? Those are our brochures, and they ain't coming."
