Punt guns aside, what gun do you think has killed the most waterfowl? I'd say the Browning auto-5.
I don't know, the side by side configuration probably killed more ducks than anything.
Gets my vote
Depends on whose hands the gun is in !
Have to go with the side-by.
Everyone shot them back when the daily bag limit was 30 per day and the season lasted 6 months....
Of the modern shotguns, and if we're confining this to specific models, I'd have agree with the 870.
Not arguing, but I 'think' the intent of the OP was the model/brand, not style.
One would have to think of the numbers of hunters, then vs now. By 'then', I would say pre-60's. By 'now', I would say everything since then.
The 870 was introduced in 1950, and over 11 Million have been sold.
I will not argue the SxS has killed a lot of birds. If you want to make the O/P to say "What style of gun has killed more waterfowl?", you could be right. Could be wrong. I have NO idea. Can't even guess.
(Hey, my first multi-shot gun was a Wards Revelation 20ga SxS, so I like the way you are thinking)
Another vote for the 870, as long as we are sticking with a specific model.
1897 winchester killed millions in that day lots of old pictures you see a 97 winchester in them
