I'd shoot steel through them as is.

I'd stick with slower shells. I have a friend who used steel in a 12 ga 311 for a couple seasons. It is choked Mod and Full. No issues. He shot mostly steel 2s at ducks.

I always hesitate to post that, but I do agree with it.

    Slower shells (1400ish FPS)
    Smaller shot- 4's, and 3's. I wouldn't go bigger.

I shoot my Wards Revelation SxS 20ga once in a while. It is bored Mod and Full. I only shoot 4's in it.

If you are only planning to shoot them because they're all you have then I'd personally just go find a cheap pawn shop 870 or 500 pump rather than use them. If you just really want to use these guns because you like to shoot them, then carry on :tu

I'd call Briley or Angle Port and find out how much it would cost to get the barrels choked?

For your application, I'd have the Full barrel opened to IC.
    That's what I'd do....

I would pattern them with lead at 40 yards to see what type of pattern they currently throw. You may think it's full/mod....but it may not be.
Then, if they are really closer to modified, I would get some 2 3/4" steel 4's at 1300-1400 fps and see what those patterns look like at 40 yards. You may like it.

If you decide to open up the chokes, the answer is Mike Orlen.

Adding chokes would likely be more than the guns are worth, or thereabouts.
