My Dad would have my Mom put canned biscuits over Dinty Moore beef stew, must've been something he ate in his younger years (Depression Era?).

Doubt he was getting canned biscuits during the depression. Putting biscuits over beef stew is about like chicken and dumplings with a different protein.

Breakfast ...

The first of the UK home grown asparagus is in; infinitely better than the imported stuff. Fried sourdough bread really crispy, fried egg, asparagus and Hollandaise sauce. Pot of strong tea, and that's yer man.

It's even better with a duck egg, but they are hard to catch right now at a reasonable price.

I don't know when "canned" biscuits came out, Bill. And yes, I know about "protein!"

Neither do I, but I guarantee they weren’t cheaper than making from scratch. And “cheap” was the watchword during the depression.

Did a batch of beaver salami this weekend, turns out "you wood be surprised" it pretty much taste just like the duck and deer salami we make! Used Excaliber's BBQ seasoning and some high temp pepperjack cheese. 17# of beaver and 8# of pork.
Wrong kinda beev to be munchin on
