I'm blaming it on the phone...damn autocorrect and word insertion!
I just went through this same decision process a month ago. I wanted a 3” inertia gun as I have always shot gas operated autoloaders for ducks. I seriously considered the Franchi Affinity Elite. I also looked hard at the M2. I prefer the feel and balance of the M2. In my opinion the M2 is better finished. I ended up with the M2 and am more than pleased. It has replaced my Xtrema 1.
I have a SBE1 (non-HK), SBE2 (first gen with the safety issue), Cordoba (20 ga) and Ethos BEST.
I got the Ethos due to the lighter weight and being a 3" gun. I don't shoot 3.5" really anymore, so no need for another 3.5". I have two busted rib soldier joints on the SBE2 (from recoil, not abuse) and instead of spending a few hundred to have it fixed, I bought a new gun and its now backup.
Shooting the Ethos reminds me of shooting the Cordoba. A little thinner profile and swings very well.
I was a PH for a friend yesterday and used the Ethos.
I'd wait for the SBE V.
Find an H&K SBE . Or an M1 super90 . In my opinion .
What was the safety issue? I bought mine e in '06, can't remember what year they came out.
Around spring of '04.
On the first batch the safety was SUPER hard to press, like so much so they did a recall and I sent my trigger assembly back to be fixed.
Guess I missed that.
Im waiting for the SBE X.
I have a couple Super Vincis. That’s my vote. In my decision making to get an auto loader, I took in consideration the various Benellis I have shot, handled, and my many friends’ experiences with Benelli’s. The conclusion I came up with is the Super Vinci is best for me.
It cycles faster than anything else I’ve shot. It dampens recoil. It still shoots with a ton of vegetation, straw, ice, snow and mud in the action. The springs in the stock won’t get jammed with gunk or straw because the springs are in the receiver.
Personally I think the SBE guns are junk compared to a Vinci. I won’t even consider buying the slow cycling, unwieldy, old technology, oil using , SBE I,II,III or even a raffle ticket for one.
