Which of these do you do with your ducks and geese?

  1. Pluck.

  2. Skin.

  3. Breast.

  4. Toss in the trash

    I will pluck fat birds that aren't body shot but to be honest I breast most of them.
    Although, there ain't nothing better than barrel smoked mallard and specks in my opinion.
    Well maybe barrel smoked sprig or woodys.

    I take the breasts and legs/thighs of 90% of my birds. Only the best and fattest mallards get plucked. I find the breasts more versatile for cooking, plus it’s a lot less work than fully dressing a whole bird!

    Depends on the bird and how bad it is shot. If I get a wood duck that hasn’t been shot bad, I’ll pluck them whole. Season with a Cajun or southwest style seasoning and hot smoke just until they’re med rare. Then crank the heat for a few mins to crisp the skin up a bit. Almost everything else gets breasted.

    Been breasting em all out and taking legs of big ducks. Wood ducks I almost always pluck every one.

    I pluck a few,breast majority with skin on.

    I breast them out but if I shot a fat mallard, I’d pluck it and eat it whole. I just never shot one like that.

    Breast all geese and get it made into jalapeño cheddar brats and snack sticks/summer sausage.

    Ducks, breast and grill to med rare.

    I breast them out. Me and my kids have a bad tendency to shoot too far back. We dont save many legs...

    Most of the ducks that we kill dont have the good white fat anyways so very few would be much good whole.

    Even Specks? I breast snows, don't shoot hardly any honkers if I did they would get breasted. But Specks get plucked, we love smoking them in a barrel smoker they turn out amazing.:yes:yes:yes

    There is no better eating waterfowl than a fat rice fed Speck and you can’t change my mind.
