Two of the Nashville PD team had tactical shotguns. One round head or center mass shot and it is ball game, a arm or leg is a traumatic bleed out shot. You ain't going to survive.

Agreed, how many of these school shooters really understand the gun more than pull the trigger to make it go bang. They are going with the weapon that they hear about on the news being so deadly which is the AR. My wife knows nothing about guns, but the other day she heard Biden talking about how deadly the AR rifle was. He said something about the fact that it wasn't just the number of bullets they are capable of shooting, but that it was the fact that they shoot the bullets so fast that it causes the bullet to splinter when it hits the body which causes way more damage than a normal gun would. My wife looked at me and said, "is that true?"

I would be willing to bet that many people do not know the devastating effect that a shotgun can have loaded with buckshot. Add that to the fact that people don't understand that you can have magazine extensions that allow for more than 3 shells in a shotgun. The AR does allow much faster reloads and it's what they see in the news and they know it is a military rifle so it much be more deadly.

Ah yes the deadly part. Lol. It's funny watching a dinosaur movie and they got ar style rifles, just want i would want against a ginormous animal, lmao. Hollywood is a bunch of idiots along with msm.

They are popular, readily available and customizable, low recoil, weight isn't bad, compact size, ammo is readily available and relatively inexpensive, and a person can learn to be relatively proficient with one in a reasonable time. And they are accurate "enough".

That 12-gauge with 00 buck would have stomped a hole in Adam Lanza; don't know how much Audrey weighed, but small stature would require going to a gas auto or stepping down to 20-gauge. And .223/5.56 is easier and cheaper to get than buckshot. Load 10 mags and it's shoot, dump, new mag until the mag pouch is empty with 200-300 rounds gone versus jamming shells into a shotgun mag and trying to carry even 30 loose rounds.

Edit to add: Go buy 500 rounds of .223/5.56, and nobody blinks an eye. Buy 150-200 rounds of buck, and people raise eyebrows.

I know a few folks with AR and the like platforms. At least around my parts those type/style of guns tend to be what the non-hunting gun owners seem to gravitate towards.

Yep. #4 buck not 00.

#4 buck has around 41 pellets in my old coyote load. Hollywood glamorizes the AR15. It is a capable and customizable platform but it is no magic weapon. There is no discipline or respect for God, Family or Country taught to children anymore.

To address the Op’s question it’s because of the media’s rhetoric and the scary black gun mentality. As others have mentioned a shotgun will do as much as an MSR. If it was truly about round count, portability and concealment a Ruger charger 10/22 or a standard 10/22 with a drum mag could be just as deadly. In the end it’s about disarming the public.
