Walmart is a strange and sometimes wonderful place to buy duck loads.
About 20 years ago, I found a "closeout" on steel.
Offered manager $7/box....I'd buy all. Thought they had about 18 boxes....ended up they had 15 cases! (Marriage survived/guys at camp called me a genius).

Since then, Walmart managers have assured me there will NEVER be another discount on ammo.
And.....I've bought stores out for as little as $5/box on 3 more occasions.

I discovered that a closeout in one store does not mean the next one 30 miles away is not still asking full price.

Have a great season guys! Year 56 for me.

It's often manager's discretion. That can be as low as dept. manager, if they have the ability. I've bought stuff for 10 cents (not ammo) because a manager was "tired of looking at it".
Wal-Mart up here is pretty woke. They don't sell firearms, and ammunition is next to nil. But we have Canadian Tire (aka Crappy Tire).. some stores are rather aggressive with clearance items and pricing while others don't seem to utilize it at all.

Bought a bunch of these a few years ago. Bought all they had, about 8 boxes total. Keep dreaming about them. Good ole Walmart right after hunting season closed. Back in the old “normal” days. DF2D6923-2AA3-4E67-A713-0219E06888CA.jpeg

I'd love to catch "game load" on sale for $2 per box. I'd buy a hundred flats if they had them.

That steel load is a real oddball. I can see why they put it on sale; who would buy it otherwise, and what would they use it for?? :tu

    I have an 870 with a 2-3/4" chamber.
No, I haven't used #BB in it, but I have used 1-1/4 oz loads before.
    That's the point of it.

Yeah, big BBB but in 2 3/4 inch….go figure. But at $4, what the heck. They shot well….in range.
Thats my last box. I keep bringing it to the blind ad tell my buddies that you don’t have to pay a lot for shells if you’re smart. Running joke. Gonna be extra fun this Sat, first hunt of the season. :joker
