Yard sale find

Stopped farming and went to town for some lunch today and my area is having THE 100 mile yard sale. At the parking lot of the small filling station I eat at was a guy who had some random stuff. I seen 1 item I had to have. a 5’.5” Shimano pistol grip rod. Not necessarily something I’d use at this point but this was top on the line, in the 70’s and early 80’s. The other thing was the fact it had probably the original owners name etched in the aluminium. F.W. McGinnis 1/17/82. Anyone ever know this ole baw?

Found one of those at an estate sale, new in the box for $5, beautiful reel

Man I remember those, I had 3 of the smaller 4600 w/then new "thumbar!" Heck the guy is still using one (I bought them in 1980?).

I have these I am trying to find a new home for, one would look great on that Shimano rod, dem bass would jump right in your Ranger V365...

I'll never forget in 1968 we went to Santee Cooper Res., SC to bass fish. Very few bass fishermen were on the lake at that time. Mostly crappie fishermen. We found a bait dealer to take one of us out each day to show us the ropes and he lent me an Ambassadeur reel and I was new to baitcasters. I threw a plastic worm over a big log and a huge bass grabbed it and ran before I could engage the clutch. As you can imagine I lost the fish and had my first world class backlash as big as a basketball it seemed.

Cut my teeth bass fishing in northern Minnesota with a red Abu Garcia. Once I got the hang of it (and stopped getting a birds nest every other cast) I absolutely loved that reel!! Takes me back…
