https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/wildlife/waterfowl/waterfowl-public-input.html With Covid they aren’t doing public meetings. They are doing an online survey. Let ‘em know what you think.
Thanks. Do you know why this was not publicized? I did not know about it till i saw your post. thanks again.
A lot of interesting stuff in there. Most of it not making a huge difference. I think additional early seasons risks making the first few weeks of the regular season suck after kicking all of the resident ducks out. This will drive people out of the sport. The increased goose limit all season is way overdue. I never understood how we can need an early season because populations are too high, yet then lower the limit back down for most of the season.
I filled out survey last night. You can subscribe to DNR emails. This is how I found out about it. Also was an article in Outdoor News last week.
There are nuisance geese that are imprinted on your field and you want them gone so you kill them in the early season. Once migration occurs the geese in your field aren't the nuisance geese but are migrators and we protect them. I oversimplified but I hope it helps understand why we have what we have and why it works.
So I took the survey, nothing about cranes in my survey. Outdoor news article and now some here mention it. Did some of you that completed survey have a section on expanding the crane hunt?
