Having done both the river side and the east side a fair amount I agree with your sentiment. Flood years were always harder on the river. If it floods up over he we seem to hold more birds and they get more killable.

My first 2 years back over here we had a lot of flooding and it made for some pretty incredible spots. Some spots I wonder if I’ll be able to kill em again or if it’ll always just be a fond memory

This spot was old reliable. We could consistently go back there and get some mallards. Gave up some blacks that year as well. Hard as hell to hunt. Flooded buck brush impenetrable muddy hell. But man no one bothered them back there and it was there little hangout. Never been the same other than that one year. Hard to believe that will have been 5 years ago

JB Weld is your amigo. @SB2MAG has patched so many pellet holes in his Bigfoot floaters they look yellow.
It’s been a few years but I’d be lying if I said I never laughed while water swatting geese right next to his decoys.

My sheet water spots are a ying/yang thing.
Patterning them is the hardest part.
To much water, good luck..not enough, good luck.., find the sweet spot of 7.2-8.6 feet and your golden.

I suppose that I could travel more than 5 miles away and get into some great spots.
I just like having the opportunity to do it in my area.
After "traveling " over the past 20 years there's something about jumping in a boat or S×S and going hunting out your backyard.

This is what happens when you take an East Coaster hunting. Perfectly good Big Foot floater shot to chit.

That’s amateur stuff…….

This is professional stuff…..,

Lost three big foot decoy heads last year because they sank before I could get to them.

Grinning like a 16 year old kid. Standing at the shore of one of our better Sept/oct spots. Been a dud the last 2 years with low water. The waters back and so are the birds. Lots of mallards, woodies, and our first bluewings seem to have shown up. Saw one flock of green wings as well. Not tons of teal but some have arrived. 2 weeks
