Hey everybody, not looking for any honey holes or anything but I am new to Louisiana and heard about people hunting Lacassine and by the Rockefeller wildlife reserve. Don’t know anything about those areas but are they easy to navigate? Only place I’ve hunted this year is calcasieu river and it was a bust for sure. Thank y’all

Try posting over in the Louisiana state forum. Doubt those guys will be much help, but worth a shot. According to them, there ain't no ducks in LA.

Those places are in Southwest Louisiana, and Rockefeller is closed to hunting and Lacassine is overrun with folks from Baton Rouge who used to hunt the Wax.

But it shouldn't be hard to find an open lease near Rockefeller next year.

No where in south Louisiana is easy to navigate. You will probably die if you are not an experienced boat handler and outdoorsman.

Rick, I could not agree more. My blind on the notrth side of PI produced 8 ducks in 5 hunts. Never thought I would see the day.

Rockefeller is a state refuge, none of which I'm aware of offer any hunting. State "wildlife management areas" are a different story, but may have special regs. Some parts of some federal refuges are open to hunting, though generally on a limited/special regulation basis.

Burn several days and scout.. that way when you beat the locals and they tell you that Youre hunting “their spot” you can say that you scouted and screw off. Hide anything Valuable in your boat, be prepared to separate water out of your gas tank, etc.. good luck. Oh and be careful with barge/ tug boat traffic, that can be tricky in the dark
