Drive in duck blind ideas

Looking to make a framed out blind to drive a 16 foot boat into and hunt out of the boat. This would be on the edge of cattails. Anyone do this? Or have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Saw this pic a while back and saved it. A good use for salvaged boat pontoons. You can see how then it could be draped with mesh or a windbreak material and brushed over. You could do the same thing with capped, watertight plastic barrels or molded dock floats.

Good looking pontoon floater rig. The blind you're talking about is a "push in" blind. You can use 4x4 for the poles and frame it up with 2x4, angle the poles in a little that way the boat won't be as visible from the air. Brush it with any type of cover,reeds,pines,cedars etc. Cut some to lay across the top to break up the boat. old school gunning,good luck.

Read in a book published back in the 50s about using logs chained together. They had drilled holes on the top side and inserted cedar boughs for cover.

How much does water level fluctuate? That’ll help determine what to build.

Good point,if its tidal then at low tide you're going to have to shoot over the brush and that's a pain,get the tide high and it could get tight with the boat. We build them with a box to hunt from that's above the normal high tide. A pic of a stationary water blind ready to hunt.

Always wanted one, it would make for a smaller footprint. Width is a problem if having to move with trailer. Great if set and just moved in water to different locations as birds move. Even a narrow boat with 5’ beam with pontoons or barrels outside its 9’ minimum width. 9’ is too wide even for a roll back. Most people don’t want to hunt from boat. They prefer a big comfortable blind. I like the smaller route.

We built this with a decked shooting blind and a boat hide on the back. The boat hide was 2x4’s and 10’ unistruts that connected to the framed blind. A 16’ boat fit under the roofed section and walked off into the back of the blind: The posts were pressure treated 4x4’s with waterproofing membrane applied and driven into the sandy ground. Water depth around the blind was about 2-3’. Build a lean-to style blind for the boat hide. Pallets make a nice front; hog panel as well, angle it and add brush. Angle all sides. The top was scrapped 3/8” plywood from a barge shipping job, you can go without a top roof section and use the top cover of your boat blind.
