Have you tried the RNT poly calls?

I have, but besides the old hunter series calls I don't believe that any of them follow the specs of any existing call in their lineup.

I'm assuming these new black ones are poly molds of their acrylic namesakes. There isn't an acrylic version of the "Rainmaker" or "Goozilla" so can't really compare that to their premium lineup. There are however Short Barrels, Daisy Cutters, and Mondos with a solid following...so was hoping someone has been able to compare the new black calls side by side to see if operationally they are the same or close. If they are I'll keep one rolling around in the center console for emergencies.

I’ve had my hands on a ton of RNT calls. All of what you mentioned. I don’t care for their goose calls, but love the Daisy Cutter, DC Diablo, and the original Mondo. None of the calls that I’ve keep for my collection were made in the last decade. In my opinion, they have become too commercialized and the new call tuners just don’t have the same skill as the guys that have retired from that type of work. Using the Mondo as an example, the new ones aren’t “cut” the same way. I use an early run Mondo, which is more like a “short” version now and modify new ones to replicate that original sound. Are the ducks as sophisticated? Likely not! Can you get one of the black polys and try hand tuning at home? I am not familiar working with poly and stick to mostly wood..

I'd like to see how that quackhead 2b short runs, I have a mondo 2b right now and it is actually quite a fantastic running call.

I still stick it more than I'd like, but it's the best cutdown I've run by quite a ways.

I ponied up and ordered 4 on the new Quackhead. 2B-S, LT-S, LA-S, and the Daisy Cutter. I learned again I'm not a cutdown fan :dohbut they're cheap.

On the Mondos the tone boards have medium sanding, seems like more on the edges, than in the middle of the board. In my opinion the 2B-S needed much more, as it runs horrible. Quacked good, but had one sweet spot, and too much, or too little air goes bad. Again I'm not a cutdown guy, so maybe mostly me. It also has spit grooves.

The LA-S is Harsh! Any air at all, and it sounds horrible in my house. I'll try it outside, and see what she does, but I doubt it'll be for me.

The LT-S ran pretty good, as far as my experience with cutdowns go. I have some Rolling Thunders from a few years ago, and tried a few Mondos. I'll probably give the LT-S a go when I'm able to go hunting again.

The Daisy Cutter sounds dang good! About as good, if not better as the current few years of DCs. If they all sound as good as this one, I can honestly say a step up to acrylic is a waste. It does air lock horribly, but I'll work on the toneboard a bit, and hopefully get that out. It will definitely be hunted, if I can get the air lock out.

Thanks for your DC review. Been thinking of spending Cabelas rewards for one. I've been blowing a 40th Anniversary Kingwood DC. Like the call and price was right.

I wouldn’t feel so bad trying your cure on a poly call lol. Not ballsy enough to do it on other dc’s like you.

Not that cure...new medicine. Proprietary material. Nothing like Mylar. Been messing with it a couple of months. Considered selling it as "next gen" reeds...but will probably just keep it to myself.
