Haven't tried the Rnt but Riceland and Redbone are both excellent calls.

If you could make it to kittles in a couple weeks there is a good chance you could try the Redbone and Riceland before you decide on a call. Like others said pick the one you feel most confident in and stick with it. Just like duck calls there are lots of good ones on the market but no one call fits everyone.

I thought the original Barbelly was a nice easy call to use...

It's been redesigned for 2016, and I have not tried the new version...

Also don't know what version BPS is showing in the shops...

What I do know is that I'm saving all my calls funds for the new line of calls coming out soon....

Saw a pic of the acrylic version today....werth waiting for!!

Tim Hudson let me try the prototype of the RNT last August in Colusa. I really liked it. It had decent click and a good range. Easy to blow. The barrel had a flared edge which made it difficult to control back pressure with the index finger. I mentioned that to him. Don't know if they changed that or not.

Think they may have finally given up on selling their George Jetson goose call insert designs, and the second generation Barbelly currently being produced is the first with something more "handy". (I'll be here all week, folks...)

Big Daddy Gaddy posted,

"Rumor has it that an extremely user friendly speck call is hitting the market very soon."

The long awaited triple reed?

In regards to the 2016 new "Barbelly", are you referring to the original "Specklebelly" call pictured below:

or the new "Barbelly"?

The bottom one is the one I tried at BPS...

Not sure what kind of guts it has, but I imagine that most Spec calls use a Louisiana style guts system.

On a side note, my buddy had a brand new Redbone last year and the guts fell out of it on opening morning. He sent it back to Redbone for repair, but between shipping time and a new girlfriend I never did get to try it.

Need to give him a call...

No, when I mention RnT Barbelly, I am referring to the RnT Barbelly, which has a 2015 & 2016 version at the present time...

I have owned the RnT Specklebelly call, but it was given to Rok Daddy Gaddy many seasons ago...he sounds great on it...

I liked the Barbelly enough that I might buy one again someday..,

I believe the black one is the old version, and the other is the 2016 redesign?

Nope, the black is the new/current version Barbelly insert, and the orange the original Barbelly insert.

Rick,

So I am thoroughly confused... Perhaps you could educate this green horn about a few things...

First, I can't seem much info online about this call. What did you mean by "given up on selling their George Jetson goose call insert designs"? And why is the second generation more "handy"? The RnT website shows the version with the flared barrel. I believe that's what I tried as Bass Pro. Is that the new Barbelly or the old? If it's the old, will is RnT selling the new version? Are the guts the same in the two versions?

Thanks for you patience with me...I can be a little slow...
