I planted Jap millet last week and now hoping for the best. I was flooded out until late June. Now I’ll not get a sprinkle in the next three weeks. By then I’ll be picked clean by the tweetie birds and turkeys.

80% of the water is off today. Heading over tomorrow with 12 bags of Jap Millet to hit it while the ground is saturated and the sun is shining. Only issue we may encounter is they put down Anthem Max at 3oz per acre on the soybeans to prevent grass weeds. Hoping that flood diluted it enough to let the millet germinate. Only time will tell...
I'm sure you're aware, but go ahead and get your scouting boots on and your pyrethroid ready. Stressed vegetation and fresh sprouts are a fall armyworm Vegas style buffet.

No, I wasn't aware. One more thing to go wrong this year...

On a good note I managed to get 18 acres spread yesterday and would like to cover another 12 acres but it has to dry up some. I honestly thought I might blow the motor on my ATV with the heat and the fact that my tires were spinning in 6 inches of mud the entire time. Another issue I will have is that there is so much corn stalk and soybean leaf litter on top of the mud I am not going to get a good stand unless we get a good rain soon to wash it onto the mud.

the world is home to the Wu Chang Clan
Wingman called and said it looks like most of the corn from Hwy P and south of M and east of Old 79 will probably be a bust….all creeks out of their banks and not much is draining

Our place…water to our parking (elevation about 12 feet above normal creek) Upper field looks ok but all sloughs at floating hat depth or more.

Damn, I hope those freaking critters don’t ever make it our way!!! Can you put water on to kill them/prevent them if your crop is made? Also, are they only interested in seed crops or everything?

I should probably just read up!
